In 1995 Nuxalk chiefs, elders and activists were arrested on King Island for trying to stop the clearcut logging and destruction of ISTA. They were taken by RCMP to Vancouver to stand trial and during this time the Squamish Nation welcomed them and gave them billetting. In June 2010 the Squamish invited the Nuxalkmc Dancers and Elders to honour the 15th Anniversary of the ISTA blockade and the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Nuxalk Sxayikin Siyamand and Squamish Alhxixa (Pelly and Cedric Billy).![]()
